So, the Red Wings will try to extend their lead to 3-0 tonight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The Stars will try to avoid both falling into an hole and losing face in front of their home crowd. It should be a great game. It doesn't look too good for the Stars though. In both previous round, the visiting team managed to split the games taking place at Dallas.
It will be a great game if the Stars manage to shoot on net instead of around it. Osgood needs some work. So does the Wings' D. The Stars need to copy Detroit's tactic and park someone in front of Osgood in order to obsure his view. They also have to keep their emotions in check. The Detroit players are smart enough to not retaliate when a situation is at their advantage, so Dallas shouldn't bother with punches to the face and other cheap shots. Instead, they should try to legally crush Detroit's speedy players into the boards.
Detroit shouldn't get too complacent. They won the last game simply because Dallas couldn't shoot properly, so they can't underestimate the Stars. In previous rounds, they won the second game by a large margin (4-2, 5-1) whereas in this series, the second game finished 2-1. It goes to show that the Stars a lot closer to victory than people give them credit for. The Wings have to avoid the penalty box. The Stars powerplay finally woke up in last game, and when their PP is on, watch out.
