2008 NHL Playoffs - Western Conference Finals: Detroit Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars Game 2 Preview
May 10th 2008 22:22
Let's hope that the Stars have taken a well-deserved rest before tonight's game. They are down 1-0 in this series and the Red Wings look pretty unstoppable.
First order of business tonight will be to take away the Wings' possession. In order to do that, the Stars will have to win more faceoffs. You can't expect to win a game when you're constantly running after the puck. Secondly, avoid turnovers. They constantly gave away the puck in the first game while being in their own zone. That's a big no-no when playing against a speedy team like Detroit but we'll chalk this one up to fatigue. Furthermore, Dallas has to stay disciplined. Detroit isn't a team that lets itself get distracted/intimidated by cheap shots and/or extremely physical play so the Stars will have to avoid the penalty box. They also have to find a way to get Franzen and Holmstrom out of Marty Turco's face. Otherwise, life will be miserable for the Stars' goaltender.
The Wings are playing great so far. It's up to the Stars to raise their level of play.
