2008 NHL Playoffs - Western Conference Finals: Detroit Red Wings vs. Dallas Stars Game 3 REVIEW
May 14th 2008 03:18
Red Wings crush Stars with a 5-2 victory.
Just when I was thinking that the Wings were getting a bit too self-satisfied with a 2-1 win, they go on and offer a commanding performance in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals. The European players came through as Pavel Datsyuk completed a hat trick and Henrik Zetterberg had one goal and two assists.
The Stars seem to be slowly getting their feet under them. After being overly fatigued in the first game, they recovered their speed in the second, and finally found their shooting abilities in the third game. They stayed in the game all the way to the third period, coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits. They were trailing 3-2 at the end of the second period and had a powperplay at the beginning of the third. It was the perfect opportunity for them to level the score at 3-3. Instead, they found themselves down 4-1 after Henrik Zetterberg scored a beautiful shorthanded goal. Pavel Datsyuk completed the score by scoring his third of the night after a great play by Zetterberg. Surrounded by four Dallas players, the Swedish forward kept control of the puck and passed it to his teammate who was alone in the slot.
I won't be surprised if the Wings manage to sweep this series. Their play is impeccable and leaves nothing to be criticized. They make everything look easy. It will take more than a miracle for Dallas to come back into this one.
