Press Previews of the Montreal Canadiens / Northeast Division for the '08-'09 NHL Season
October 9th 2008 22:27
Hey, this is just a compilation of various media outlets' links for the upcoming season. If the Canadiens really want to contend for the Stanley Cup, there are three things to watch out for:
1. Alex Kovalev
To have a great season, the Habs need the 'Artist' to be at his best. This is a contract year for Kovy, so the extra motivation is definitely there.
2. Carey Price
His flame-out in the second round of the playoffs last year proved to be the Habs' downfall. He has to prove to everyone that he is a bonafide number one goaltender.
3. Injuries
The Canadiens were lucky last year. Most of their injuries were among fourth liners, enabling them to put out consistent performances (they never lost three games in the row). An injury to either Markov, Kovalev, or Price could be devastating for the club.
Here is Allan Muir's preview of the Northeast Division (from Sports Illustrated).
The Canadiens' season preview from NHL.com.
Scott Cullen previews the Habs here (from TSN.ca).
ESPN's preview is here.
And finally, there's Sportsnet's preview of the Habs and the Northeast division.
Enjoy the read!
