Price gets beat in the shootout
If there's one thing that's comforting about the Habs, it's the fact that Andrei Markov is proving himself to be the true MVP of this team. The defenseman scored the equalizer to put both teams in overtime and had assisted on the Habs' two other goals.
The Canadiens were once again outshot by the opposition 42-19, requiring a great game by Carey Price. It's too bad his performance was all for nothing as he crumbled in the shootout, conceding all three shots – a rare occurrence for the goalie who usually can be counted on in those situations.
In the end, the win allowed the Rangers to leapfrog over the Habs to take sixth place in the playoffs race. The situation is precarious for the Canadiens who seem to be slowly tumbling out of the playoffs picture.
