2008 NHL Playoffs - Round 2: Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers Game 3 Preview
April 28th 2008 19:10
Two teams who are starting to really hate each other will play tonight in the City of Brotherly Love. Ironic, much?
Boy, where do I start? This game is gonna be fun for sure. After Philly's Game 2 victory, the talk of the town was Kostopoulos 'punching' Timmonen in the face right after Philly's fourth goal. John Stevens called it a “coward's” move while Carbo stated that the Flyers shouldn't complain. After all, they had the most suspensions in the league during the season and their players are reputed for taking cheap shots at the opposition. Emotions will surely fly high tonight but let's talk about the game itself.
Guillaume Latendresse is reported to start the game in Dandenault's place. This switch will bring more size to the Lapierre line and Guillaume can also win battles along the boards, something that neither Streit nor Dandenault have been able to do. The keyword for tonight will be discipline. If the Canadiens start zipping by Philly's defense like they did in the past two games, expect the Flyers to make cheap shots (stick pokes, elbow or hand to the head) away from the referees' eyes. The Habs have to refrain themselves from retaliating.
Carey Price has been average for the past two games. He has to rebound because Kovalev won't be able to make any more miracles if he's closely watched. Martin Biron has been excellent in Game 2 but the Flyers are playing with fire if they keep giving so many scoring chances to the Canadiens.
Little bonus today: here's a parody of the German movie Der Untergang made before Game 2 about the Flyer's supposed inferiority against the Habs. Of course, the Flyers won Game 2, so it's a little bit silly by now. But it's still pretty hilarious.
