2008 NHL Playoffs - Round 1: Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers Game 7 Preview
April 22nd 2008 23:11
Back at the beginning of Round 1, I predicted that this series would go to seven games after watching the first confrontation. As it turns out, I was right. Both Philadelphia and Washington will put out everything they got in this win-or-die scenario.
The key to win is simple. Defense and discipline. The Flyers have only one player to watch Ovechkin. If he's kept off the scoresheet, it's bye-bye Capitals. Philly should also avoid the penalty box.
Bruce Boudreau's team has the same strategy. One player to watch Danny Briθre, who has been given far too much liberty in past games.
Both goalkeepers will also have to be at their best. Biron has already shown that he's capable of stopping every shot in every way. Will Huet show up? Last night, the Caps came back from behind to beat the Flyers 4-2. They have the mental advantage, we'll see how the Flyers will react.
Keep in mind that if the Flyers win, they'll go on to face Montreal. If the Caps win, they'll face the Penguins. Which match-up would you like best? Danny Briθre against the team he shunned last summer or Alex the Great against Sid the Kid? We'll see how it turns out.
