2008 NHL Playoffs - Round 1: Montreal Canadiens vs. Boston Bruins Game 4 Preview
April 15th 2008 21:49
Don't panic.
That will be Guy Carbonneau's message to his troops before the game. Montreal hasn't firing all cylinders so far. The first two lines are not getting the job done. Plekanec, himself, has said that he's playing “like a little girl.” Both his and Higgins' line should start working more instead of relying on their talent. Ryan O'Byrne might play tonight. His presence will give some respite to Komisarek and Hamrlik who have been the only blue-liners dishing out effective hits. The third line has been average at best. They, too, need to step up their game. The grinders have been the real stars of the Canadiens so far (along with Price). Bégin, Smolinski, and Kostopoulos are working their butts off and deserve some major appreciation on the fans' part. The powerplay is not clicking, we'll see if Jarvis' adjustements will be effective.
Claude Julien's squad now has momentum. The Bruins are working hard, they're focused and discplined. All they need is a repeat of Tim Thomas' performance in the last game. The Bs did a good job by preventing the Habs to use their speed and skills. We'll see how Montreal responds to this tactic tonight.
[UPDATE] O'Byrne is in. Streit will be moved to forward. Michael Ryder is a healthy scratch.
